The participation of women in e-commerce has the potential to significantly enhance a country’s economic growth, yet their actual role, recognition, and empowerment remain limited. Despite initiatives such as seminars and workshops by national and multinational organizations, substantial financial support, education, and specialized training are still required to fully empower women and ensure their equal rights. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews, to explore the experiences and challenges of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh’s e-commerce sector. The findings reveal that e-commerce serves as a critical avenue for financial independence, social recognition, and decision-making power among women, while highlighting persistent barriers such as limited legal protection, family constraints, and lack of institutional support. The study recommends targeted policy measures, access to financial resources, capacity-building programs, and social awareness initiatives to promote gender equality and enhance the empowerment of women through e-business. By enabling women to actively participate in economic activities, Bangladesh can harness the full potential of half its population, contributing to sustainable societal and national development.
